Patient Transport
Patient hospital transport is a service available for patients who require additional medical support during their journey (e.g. bed-bound or difficulty walking). This is a free service provided by the NHS.
GP surgeries are able to arrange transport when we have referred you to a specialist. We are only able to request transport on your first appointment at the clinic, thereafter, for any future appointments, the specialist/hospital would need to arrange transport for you.
If a specialist has referred you to another specialist (or to another hospital), the responsibility of arranging the transport remains with the referring specialist. The GP is unable to arrange transport for referrals made by hospitals / specialists. You are able to request transport directly with them by calling their appointment lines.
